 Pirouette School of Dance has been established since 1999 and holds classes for children and adults in London and Essex. At Pirouette members are given the opportunity to study the five main aspects of dance: Tap, Ballet, Lyrical, Modern and Disco.
The Blackheath, London SE3 (click here for a map) classes are held for children from 2½ years old on Wednesday afternoons as well as an Adult Tap Class on Wednesday evenings. (click here for more information about Blackheath classes).
The Ingatestone, Essex CM4 (click here for a map) classes are held for children from 2½ years old on Saturday mornings. An Adult Tap class is also available on Saturday afternoons at Ingatestone. (click here for more information about Ingatestone classes).
Over the years Pirouette has held 9 shows where all members have been given the opportunity to perform at The Greenwich Theatre, SE10 and The Broadway Theatre, SE6.
Pupils from Pirouette School of Dance have been selected for the United Teachers of Dance (UTD) National Dance Championships in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010- winning a variety of medals and trophies over the years including Best Entry School Cup and Highest Stage solo dance across all age groups for 2 years running.
In May 2011 over 58 members from Pirouette performed 11 dances (a variety of solo, duet, trios, small group and large group dances) at the South East England Performing Arts Festival. Many individuals were awarded medals within their section, and then Pirouette as a school won 5 overall Highest Average Mark trophies at the Festival Presentation.
The Principal of Pirouette School of Dance, Tina Clark, is an Associate Teacher of United Teachers of Dance (UTD). Therefore members at Pirouette can train to enter UTD Examinations and/or Medal Tests. Members are currently learning syllabus work and dance routines in readiness for the next set of exams and medal tests, which will be held in September 2011.
