Ingatestone dance class information

Classes are held every Saturday morning in the Main Hall of Ingatestone Community Centre, 7 High Street, Ingatestone, Essex, CM4 9ED (location map). I am happy for new members to wear comfortable clothing, outdoor shoes for tap, and bare feet for ballet, modern and lyrical. UTD regulation uniform can be purchased from Pirouette at a discounted rate (price lists and order forms available during class administration intervals).

Pre-School Class
Age 2 1/2 - 5 years
Time 9.00am – 9.45am
Components Tap, Ballet, Lyrical & Modern
Aims To develop early co-ordination and confidence. To learn basic steps for each style of dance. Training for shows, Primary 1 UTD Examinations & Medal Tests.

Class 1
Age 5-8 years
Time 9.45am – 10.45am
Components Tap, Ballet, Lyrical & Modern
Aims To continue to develop performance skills and steps for each style of dance. All pupils are encouraged to dace to the best of their ability. Training for shows, Primary 2 UTD Examinations and Medal Tests.

Class 2
Age 8-12 years
Time 10.45am – 11.45am
Components Tap, Ballet, Lyrical & Modern
Aims The class has a mixture of children who are building on previous dance experience and those who are starting as beginners. All members will be encouraged to fulfil their potential whilst developing technical footwork ability for each style of dance and performance skills. Training for Shows and UTD Level Examinations & Medal Tests.

Class 3
Age 13-18 years
Time 11.45am – 12.45pm
Components Tap, Ballet, Lyrical & Modern (to include some commercial dance)
Aims To continue to develop technical footwork ability for each aspect of dance and performance skills. All pupils are encouraged to dance to the best of their ability whilst working towards their own style as an independent dancer. Training for shows, Level Examinations & Medal Tests. Students can choose which elements of dance they wish to pursue to exam/medal test level.

Adult Tap
Age No age limits
Time 12:45pm – 1.30pm
Components Adult classes are predominately for fun. Classes include step practice and group dance routines. Members are given opportunities to progress at their own pace. The class is often split into beginners, intermediate and advanced levels for part of the session.
Aims All adult members are encouraged to dance to the best of their ability. Training for shows, Grade Examinations & Medal Tests.

Notes for parents

  • The 5 minute intervals will be used for children going home, children getting ready for next class, administration and uniform. During this time, please ensure fees are paid, your child has been to the toilet and is ready to dance – tap shoes. I will also be available to answer any queries you may have.
  • To avoid distraction to the pupils when dancing, parents are not permitted to stay during classes.
  • Any pupils arriving after their lesson has started will be collected at the door.
  • Fees to be paid on a weekly basis at first, then eight weeks in advance when main school starts new block of membership fees.
