About Pirouette School of Dance
Over the years Pirouette has staged numerous shows where we have given all members the opportunity to perform as a whole school. We have staged shows at The Towngate Theatre Basildon, The Greenwich Theatre SE10 and The Broadway Theatre SE6. We were also extremely proud in June 2014 when 32 members from our school were selected to perform in The Children’s Variety Showcase at Her Majesty’s Theatre, Haymarket in London’s West End. Our next Annual Show will be at The Towngate Theatre on Sunday 6th September 2015.
Members at Pirouette can study for United Teachers of Dance (UTD) Exams and Medal Tests in Tap, Ballet, Modern and Lyrical. We also enter children from the singing group into Song and Dance Medal Tests. Training for the next set of Exam & Medal Test days will begin after our annual show in September. We also regularly host Professional Masterclasses with West End and TV stars.
Pupils from Pirouette School of Dance have been selected for the United Teachers of Dance (UTD) National Dance Championships & Scholarships every year since 2005 - winning a variety of medals and trophies over the years including Best Entry School Cup and Highest Stage solo dances across all age groups. Our Pirouette members have also performed a range of solo, duet, trios, small group and large group dances at the South East England Performing Arts Festival for the past 5 years, with many individuals being awarded medals within their sections.
At Pirouette we are committed to hosting an annual charity event. In 2012 we took part in Arleen Phillips’ Ultimate Dance Challenge where an exciting danceathon was organised and members raised over £600 for Save the Children. In 2013 we danced in the BBC World Record Attempt tapathon and raised over £900 for Children in Need. In December 2014 we performed at the Ingrave Johnstone Christmas Bazaar helping raise £131 entry fees. This year we have performed at Ingrae Johnstone Primary School May Fete - helping raise money for their Parents Association.
Pirouette membership fees are competitive to other dance schools in all 3 areas as well as other UTD schools around the UK. If you are interesting in joining us click here for a registration form. We cater for a wide range of abilities and dance experience – so whether you’re a complete beginner or an advanced dancer we are confident there is a class to suit you.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to discuss any of the classes more fully before joining.
